Age When ADHD is Diagnosed

Monday, August 4th, 2008

Some parents notice signs of inattention, hyperactivity, and
impulsivity in their kids before they even start school. The
child may not be able to sit still for very long or pay attention to
games or television. But just because a parent thinks their child
shows signs of ADHD does not mean that they have the disorder. Because
children develop and grow at very different rates, it is crucial to get
a professional’s opinion of the child’s growth and behavior. You
may want to wait until the child enters school to definitely diagnose
the disorder.

ADHD may not be noticed by parents or another family members, or it may
go unnoticed until the child runs into problems at school. Because
school is very structured and task-oriented, ADHD is more apparent than
anywhere else. Due to these circumstances, it is often a teacher
who first notices ADHD in a child. Teachers come into contact every day
with all types of children, and over time they become aware of children
who have learning difficulties in comparison to the average
child. Often, a teacher will mention this to the parents and
suggest getting the child evaluated for ADHD. One thing that
teachers do not notice, though, are children who are passive and blend
into the woodwork. Children with inattentive ADD are often quiet
and spacey, and these qualities do not stand out in the classroom.
These qualities are also not paired with the picture of the hyperactive
child that comes to mind when you think of ADHD.

Once it has been suggested that a child may have ADHD, the next step is
to rule out that the symptoms are not being caused by anything
physical. Physical disorders such as thyroid problems can mimic ADHD
symptoms. A general practitioner can physically evaluate your child to
rule this out. After this, it will be necessary to find a specialist
who is qualified to test the child. There are many types of specialists
that can diagnose ADHD, and it is up to the parents in finding one that
works. Doctors that test for ADHD are child psychologists,
psychiatrists, neurologists and other types of licensed mental health
professionals. If you have trouble finding someone who does the
testing, CHADD can be a great resource for this. A quick google search
will put you in touch with this organization.

After you find a specialist, you will need to bring the child being
evaluated as well as a family member who has known them since they were
young. A thorough history will need to be taken to accurately document
when the problems associated with ADHD began. After this has taken
place, several diagnostic tests will be given to test the presence of
ADHD.

There is no one age that ADHD is diagnosed, but it is very common that
once a child enters school that the symptoms will be more apparent in a
structured environment. But there are many individuals who are not
diagnosed until adulthood, and this is becoming more and more prevalent
as the rate of adults diagnosed with ADHD skyrockets.

Pay attention to the recommendations of the teachers. They have been
around the child for some time and are able to tell you if they suspect
that your child needs to be tested.

Bad Credit Home Mortgage Refinance - Pro’s and Con’s of Refinancing Home Mortgage

Monday, August 4th, 2008

If you purchased your home during a time when mortgage interest rates were high, you have probably considered refinancing your home mortgage for a cheaper rate. In recent years, interest rates have dropped significantly. Thus, allowing many to save thousands on their home mortgage. If you have excellent credit, you may be able to refinance your home without hassle. Then again, if your credit score is less than perfect, you should weight the advantages and disadvantages of refinancing.

What are the Advantages of Refinancing With Bad Credit?

Refinancing your home loan with poor credit has several advantages. For starters, refinancing affords you the opportunity to “cash-out” your home’s equity at closing. The funds received from your refinance are great for paying off debt, home improvements, retirement fund, dream vacation, etc.

The biggest advantage of receiving funds at closing is the ability to payoff debt. In most cases, individuals acquired bad credit because of failure to repay loans and credit cards, usually because they could not handle the monthly payments.

Refinancing may be the cure for bad credit. By eliminating unnecessary expenses, and reducing debt, you increase your credit score and improve your relationship with current creditors.

What are the Disadvantages of Refinancing with Bad Credit?

While refinancing with bad credit is ideal for receiving cash from your home’s equity, if you have a low credit rating, finding a suitable lender and rate is challenging. People refinance for various reasons. This includes obtaining a lower interest rate, switching to a fixed rate, lowering the length of their mortgage, etc. However, if you refinance with poor credit, lenders may not offer the best terms or rates. In fact, you may receive quotes with a higher rate.

Nonetheless, numerous lenders (sub prime, high risk) offer refinance mortgages to individuals with bad credit or no credit. Before signing the paperwork, carefully weight the advantages and disadvantages of a refinanced mortgage. Moreover, you must thoroughly consider the savings. Refinances involve huge fees. If your overall savings are marginal, refinancing is not a good option. Attempt to improve your credit score, and then refinance your home loan.

Goals: Demanding Perfection or Appreciating Progress

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

It’s that goal setting time of year again.

So what is the difference between those that achieve their goals and those that forget about their goals?

One major factor is the difference between demanding perfection and appreciating progress. When you set a goal, do you demand perfection or appreciate progress?

Here are a few strategies to benefit from this critical distinction.

Demanding Perfection

So many people get stuck in the myth that in order to change, you have to do it perfectly with no slip ups.

That’s just not reality.

Here are a few signs that you are stuck in demanding perfection:

  • If you slip up just once you say the heck with it and trash the whole plan.
  • You feel constantly defeated when trying to change.
  • You try to change too much at once. There is just no way to lose 30 pounds in one month without amputation.

Appreciating Progress

Even the smallest amount of progress is still progress. It’s still change.

Here’s a few tips on how to focus on appreciating progress:

  • Celebrate all improvements, even the smallest changes.
  • If a change looks too big to accomplish, break it down into smaller more manageable parts.
  • Do a little bit more, go a little bit further each day.

You can demand perfection or you can appreciate progress. The choice, as always, is up to you.

Presentations and Sales Automotive Detailers

Wednesday, July 30th, 2008

Many auto detailers fall short in their sales presentations. I have often shopped the competition to see what their knowledge base was to gage their worthiness as a formidable competitor in the market place. What I have found is that many auto detailers lack the specific knowledge needed to help their business grow and to present themselves as experienced in their work to the customers.

When a customer asks you about the wax you are using or the best type of wax for their particular car, Shouldn’t you know the right and true answer? Well apparently many professional auto detailers do not know the right answer. They just lack the knowledge. In a recent competitor survey, which was done without their knowing it, we casually asked hundreds of detailers while in incognito over a period of six months about the wax they used. Less than 1 in five were able to give us the straight answer without BS’ing their way through it. From the Dry Wash, kerosene like product, to the Teflon save the world crowd all we got was a little memorized line of sales brochures and a trial closes. In my company the Detail Guys, our team does have the knowledge of such things and we really have no desire to BS a customer, especially one which will be with us for years. Two reasons; (1) It is called lying and (2) Double Talk later will be found out.

When a professional detailer embellishes the performance, longevity, finished look before the job, he will have an unhappy customer later on. Perhaps when he is done when the customer is under whelmed for the amount paid or perhaps a month in the future when the “Teflon” Sealant, which was suppose to last 3-years is worn off and was supposedly guaranteed by DuPont? Well maybe on pots and pans baked on at 450 degrees, but there is no such guarantee for their product when used as automotive wax. Dry Wash also is interesting in that the operators say it does not scratch? Maybe if the car is in the garage with dust, but a dirty car, well it really needs a washing first and we have seen where Dry Wash tends to attract dust easily compared to hard shell waxes, of course no one ever tells the customer that. It is important to know your vendors, their products, what those products can do, what they cannot do and which is the best solution for the individual car you are working on.

So what are the types of waxes available and which ones do the best in the professional auto detailing industry use?
Most plants have a thin protective coating of wax.. Most fruit trees and vegetables plants have wax on the fruit and vegetables they produce that we eat. Waxes are also produced by animals, even man makes wax for his ears. Other wax components are found in minerals and petroleum. And the are Polymer or synthetic, manufactured by man waxes. We get waxes from a variety of sources really.

Carnuba wax is on the leaves of the carnuba palm trees. The best Carnuba wax comes from in my opinion the Palm Tress of Brazil. You can tell a good carnuba wax by the water beads. Candelilla wax comes from a plant that grows in parts of Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Guatemala and sometimes in the southwestern United States. It is a brown wax and not only have people used it on cars it is used in phonograph records, floor dressings, and candles. Although it is the major component of candle wax, it is mixed in with other waxes normally in the candles we use in our homes.

Polymer wax includes the very popular Teflon, yes a polymer brand Name used by DuPont. Polymer wax is a chain of compounds made of petroleum sources and now a days from Corn products. Polymers which are strung together are generally applied in specific thick nesses to clear coats on cars and depending on the mixture can be quite incredible indeed. So good in fact that they are often called sealants and some last as long as a year when applied in the right mixtures and thick nesses. The word Polymer is a very vague in this regard since polymers are used to make plastics, coatings and many other products. Generally short chains of ethlenic polymers are the type that are used by professional automotive detailers and auto detailers a like. Many in the aviation industry use it when doing specialized aircraft cleaning. We estimate that 80% of all automotive detailing and aviation aircraft cleaning commercial wax is petroleum based wax. Petroleum wax is chemically inactive in a sense and probably why it is so widely preferred. It is also cheaper to make than to harvest and has tons of uses. You cannot smell it unless cleaners are added which is often the case, but still it will not react to cause odor.

Petroleum wax can also be made hard and then we get a new type of wax. Paraffin; used in paper products, graffiti, petroleum jelly. All Synthetic waxes are compounds of hydrogen, carbon, oxygen, and/or chlorine. Chemists will forever be trying to make the perfect wax for cars, boats, aircraft to protect us from the harsh climates on the surface of this little blue planet. And these chemists are driven by desire and need and the possibilities are endless as new compounds are adding to existing ones to bring up whole new blending ideas, some will revolutionize our industry but most will simply be duds. Some will be hyped even though they do not really solve a problem or fix a need. Never the less, the race goes on to find the best and we should be thinking about what is in that product before we put it on a customers car, boat, aircraft or prize possession. This is what the professional detailer does, this is why we are experts in car care and call our selves auto detailers, rejuvenation specialists and professional auto detailers.

There are so many types of waxes that we know of really. From the organic waxes discussed containing carbon materials, which melt at fairly low temperatures. The chemical and biological make-up of waxes is so diverse and complex as well as consideration for grades, properties, surface uses and life spans that to really understand waxes in depth as they apply to the automotive detailing industry, also to aircraft cleaning, that this short essay may need to be supplemented by proper training.

Remember Knowledge is power. Where can you get training? Check around the Internet to find Auto Detailing Training Centers and companies who sell videos and manuals, this is a good place to start. Most likely you have some practical knowledge, enhance this by learning and knowing your products; what they are and how they work. Think on this.

The Power Of Backlinks

Saturday, July 26th, 2008

As an Internet Marketer you want to collect as many links as you can to your website so that it appears to be an authority on the subject for the search engines. Search engine traffic is considered by many to be “free” traffic. It’s not like pay per click (PPC) or other types of traffic where you are paying for people to visit your site. Anyone that finds you through a search engine is really a free visitor! And if they buy from you, then that means they are free money too!

Getting a high ranking in the search engines is considered by many to be a black art, with the search engine geeks trying to keep one step ahead of the search engine optimization gurus. With the continual changes in search engine technology it is very difficult to keep up to date with them and to keep your site optimized and ranking high.

This is why backlinks actually work out to be one of the most effective search engine optimization techniques on the market. They are cheap, quick to develop, and long lasting. They are also not likely to ever be completely penalised by the search engines. Yes, certain types of links or links to certain sites may detract from your search engine ranking, but quality backlinks will always be good for your website and your business.

A backlink is effectively a link from another site to your own. Here we are talking about one way links, i.e. they link to your site, but you do not reciprocate. This holds more value in the eyes of the search engine and benefits you much more.

There are a lot of different ways to get backlinks to your website, including:

Articles - submit articles to the article directory and the resource box will contain a link to your website - a free backlink!

Directory entries - every niche will have at least several hundred directories of sites that are relevant to that niche. Get yourself listed in all of these, and you have lots of free backlinks!

3 way link exchange - unlike traditional reciprocal link exchanges where two sites point to each other, this is a slightly more cunning way which is meant to fool the search engines. It does mean one of the link partners needs two websites though. Website A links to Website B which links to Website C. Person A owns Websites A and C and Person B owns Website B. To the search engines, these appear as one way links (at the moment! There is talk of the search engines wising up to this).

Forums - posting in forums is yet another method of getting your link seen. If you participate in the forum discussion then usually you can have a link to your site in your signature file. Remember though that you must add value and not just blatantly promote your website or post to get your signature file shown as this will result in bad will towards you and eventual blacklisting and banning

Blogs - putting comments on blogs is another way to get backlinks. However, be aware that if you are not adding value with your comment it may well be considered spam and then deleted and blacklisted. So don’t just post “great entry”, writing something that is useful and appropriate.

Backlinks are surprisingly easy for you to acquire with a little bit of work. If you don’t want to do the work yourself then you can very easily hire someone who will do it on your behalf, though make sure they will be ethical about it!

With backlinks you can boost your search engine rankings and get yourself free traffic, which means free money when they buy your product!

5 Tips to Quit Smoking

With the new photos on cigarette packets showing the scary results of smoking in gory detail we might see a new wave of people seeking to cut down or give up smoking.

Maybe the term ‘give up’ should be changed to something that shows the health, better looks and cashed up abundance that’s more likely when you’re not sucking on the monoxide sticks.

I’m a sympathiser. Everyone needs a vice perhaps. Maybe just not one so relentless in transforming a cool good looking rebel to someone’s old out of breath relative. That’s not sexy or interesting.

I like the concept of baby steps - gradually minimising the addiction until you only need a little instead of a lot.

As anyone who smokes or has ever smoked knows, smoking is extremely addictive. Besides having to deal with the physical addiction to nicotine, smokers also have to deal with a social component: unlike most other additive drugs, smoking is entirely legal and in many cases socially acceptable.

Quitting smoking is difficult, and requires persistence and willpower. Here are 5 tips to quit smoking.

1.Prepare Yourself

Many attempts to quit smoking fail because people don’t adequately prepare themselves for the task at hand.

You will be undertaking a major change in your lifestyle and habits, and you have to be ready for it.

To ensure a batter chance at success, you have to be ready to quit smoking.

You have to reach a point where you truly and deeply want to quit - if you are at hesitant about the idea there’s a good chance your attempt to quit will fail.

Before you actually attempt to stop smoking, try and make as many changes to your smoking habits as possible. Much of the addiction to smoking has to do with routines and habits, so even small changes can make a big difference when trying to break the habit.

* Try things like switching to a brand of cigarettes you don’t particularly like.

* Change the times of day that you smoke, or smoke with your other hand.

* Make a rule for yourself that you can’t do anything else - read, use the computer - while you are smoking.

This will make you much more aware of what exactly you are doing when you smoke, which is easy to avoid if you incorporate smoking into other activates you enjoy.

Basically, you should be trying to truly mess up your smoking habits as preparation before you quit smoking.

By taking steps to try and make the experience stranger, you replicate how a non-smoker feels. Remember there was a time in your life when you didn’t smoke, and the act of smoking seemed strange and uncomfortable.

Foreclosure Investing Philosophy: Helping Others Part Time

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

Some people think you need to work full-time to be a successful foreclosure investor. Others think that foreclosure investors are “vultures” that prey on people in trouble. In this article, I show you that you can invest in foreclosures in your spare time and your role as a foreclosure investor is to help others.

Foreclosure Investing in Your Spare Time

You can do this business part time to start. For me, I didn’t want a job. A JOB stood for Just Over Broke. Your boss paid you just enough for you not to quit, and you worked just enough to not get fired. My suggestion is if you’re working at a full-time job, start by doing this business part time. It is important to continue generating income until you cannot afford your current job, or your current job is costing you money.

Here’s what I suggest: keep working at your current job until you’re making more working the foreclosure market and then quit.

If you currently do NOT have a job, then you have no excuse not to be successful investing in foreclosures. If you do not have a job right now, it IS possible to create a fortune with little or no money down. Is it harder? Yes. Is it possible? Absolutely. Should you try it? You bet. What else have you got to lose? You currently aren’t working!

You need to understand that this is a numbers game. There are many, many books on how to buy real estate in creative ways. Carleton Sheets has a great introductory course on investing in real estate with nothing down. Bill Bronchick has many courses. There are lots of other courses that can help you get started in real estate without having a tremendous amount of capital. If you educate yourself with courses and tapes and if you understand that not one author has all the answers, you can put together a system that works for you.

Helping Others Through Foreclosure Investing

There are so many different ways to gain satisfaction from the business of foreclosure real estate. The foreclosure business offers unique insights into the psyches of people under stressful situations.

Much satisfaction can come from assisting people, relieving stress and helping reduce the negative events that are happening in their lives. For a lot of homeowners all they want to do is be clean and walk away from that property and the problems that are associated with it. They want a clean slate. You offer them a solution to their housing problem.

For other homeowners, they’re looking to get a bit of equity back out from a house that they spent many, many years building up. You offer them that solution to their problem and that’s an important service that we provide to our community.

And in the neighborhood you help improve the property values. You take that house–which is sometimes the most ugly, the worst, the trashiest-looking house in the neighborhood–clean it up and create a house that fits into the neighborhood. The neighbors now love you, the people who buy the home love you, you’ve made a tidy little profit, the house is back in circulation, a new homeowner lives in it, with new dreams happening in that house.

You have to admit, that’s pretty cool!

Paul Wells has been investing in foreclosures full-time for more than 5 years. For more foreclosure investing secrets like the one in this article, subscribe to Paul’s Free Foreclosure Investing course here: http://www.FreeForeclosureInvesting.com

Mortgage Refinance Tips

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

The cost of refinance houses might be varied, but here is a general guide to total expenditure you would be spending:

Application Fee for refinance houses $50 to $300
 Appraisal Fee $125 to $450
 Survey Costs $100 to $350
 Mortgage Insurance 0.5% to 1.0%
Points for refinance houses 1% to 3%
 Homeowner's Hazard Insurance $250 to $650
Home Inspection Fees $165 to $375
Loan Origination Fees 1% of loan
 Lender's Attorney's Review Fees $50 to $250
Title Search and Title Insurance $400 to $650

Refinance houses can be a good idea for homeowners who:

1) Want to draw on the equity built up in their house to get cash for a major purchase or for their children's education.
 2) Convert an adjustable rate mortgage to a fixed rate mortgage.
 3) Consolidate a more than one mortgages into one lower-rate mortgage.
 4) Want to build up equity more quickly by converting to a loan with a shorter term.
 5) Want to get out of a high interest rate loan to take advantage of lower rates. This is a good idea only if you intend to stay in the house long enough to make the additional fees worthwhile for refinance houses.
 6) To reduce the term of your mortgage by taking advantage of lower rate mortgage.
 7) Lower their cost of debt by paying off your non-tax-deductible debt, such as credit cards or car loans, to tax-deductible mortgage debt.

Also, here is list of guides that can be helpful to you while considering refinance houses. Ask your lender or real estate agent for the following:

1) A Consumers Guide to Mortgage Settlement Costs

2) A Consumer’s Guide to Mortgage Lock-Ins for refinance houses.

3) Consumer Handbook on Adjustable Rate Mortgages

Incorporating Tips - Capitalization

Thursday, July 3rd, 2008

Capitalizing a new business entity is a critical step of the formation process. Failing to take the step can lead to serious legal problems if the entity is ever sued. So, what is capitalization and what steps must be taken?

Capitalizing Your Corporation

“Capitalization” essentially refers to funding your corporation. In essence, you are providing substance to the entity in the form of money or property. Typically, the funding process works in two ways.

Corporate Stock

You must own stock in a corporation to be considered a shareholder. You are already familiar with this concept if you trade on the stock market. For instance, assume you bought stock in Sirius Radio in anticipation of Howard Stern moving to the station. You purchased stock through a brokerage or retirement vehicle by exchanging money for shares. Technically, you are a shareholder in the corporation. Your own corporation is no different.

The fact that you paid money to have a corporation formed does not make you a shareholder. You must exchange property, cash or services to obtain stock from the entity. Only then are you a shareholder in the entity. This is more easily explained with an example.

Assume I start a corporation for the purpose of providing consulting services to other businesses. The corporation is formed with 10,000 shares and I am going to be the sole shareholder. I have cash and certain assets that I am going to use as part of the business. I decide to exchange $3,000, a copier, fax machine and computer equipment for stock in the entity. This exchange should be reduced to writing, but will constitute the capitalization of the corporation.

Corporate Loan

You can also loan money to a corporate entity for start-up costs. There is no prohibition against a shareholder providing money to a corporation. The loan process should not completely replace the purchase of stock. From a tax perspective, however, dividing your initial capitalization into a partial loan can have distinct advantages.

Inadequate Capitalization

State laws govern the formation of a corporation. Inevitably, these laws set forth amounts or formulas for determining the minimum capitalization amount required for a corporation. You must review the laws in your state to determine the amount and make sure you meet the contribution minimums.

Failure to properly capitalize you corporation can result in disaster if the entity is ever sued. Simply put, the suing party may argue that the lack of capitalization means the corporation was never a viable entity because it had insufficient funds to back debt obligations. The argument gets complicated, but suffice to say you are in serious trouble if a court agrees with the argument. Typically, the court will “set aside” the corporate entity, exposing each shareholder, director and officer to the risk of personal liability.
Obviously, such a scenario would be a disaster.

In Closing

If you’ve purchased a corporation from online service, you have work to do. Make sure you determine the minimum capitalization requirements in your state and comply with them.
