<p class="MsoNormal">This has mostly been caused by the reluctance of banks to invest in these projects. Before recession, commercial property development was believed to be a safe investment. The same is not true anymore as the head of real estate at BDO, Solly Benaim, stated. Banks are rejecting too many development projects&#8217; credit proposals. </p>

<p class="MsoNormal">Explaining the reasons for the same, commercial research head of Savills, Mat Oakley, said that banks have to follow capital adequacy norms and cannot invest in risky ventures. In the current economic scenario, real estate is considered a risky venture. He said that it will take some time before the developers are able to gain requisite credit, as banks are quite cautious right now.
